Summer Salon
Exhibition Runs:
5th Jul - 9th Sep 2012
During the Summer months of July and August, rather than lazing in the sun, we’ll be upping the pace at View with a rotating exhibition full of energy and surprise. We’ll be introducing many new artists, dabbling again in the international art market, and holding some very special events. Most significantly, we’ll be introducing new work in this changing exhibition every week.
The theme will be the usual combination of high impact, emotionally driven art, with superb technical skills in a variety of style and medium. The difference will be the dynamic nature of the curating, such that it will be impossible to spend the usual hours deliberating over the visual distance between a particular painting and adjacent sculpture from a certain angle (yes, we are that ridiculous!). So, we’ll enjoy a more free and ‘off-piste’ style to setting up a show, which will give us huge scope for experimentation. We don’t expect to get it right all the time and we won’t be surprised to see a few eye-brows raised.
I’m particularly looking forward to First Impressions, the student art show, that will be making its debut during the Summer Salon. We hope to have a few events supporting education, charity, and other forms of creative expression.
We’ll be keeping everyone informed of the new work being introduced by the usual communication methods. As ever, feedback welcome (of any sort).
Some of the artists featuring in Summer Salon are: James Tebbutt, Amelia Ciriello, Jon Bently, Nigel Oddy, Rowdy, and Stephen Lovatt. Plus we’ll be showing new work from some of our regular exhibitors such as Beth Carter, Fran Williams, Diggy, Paresh Nrshinga, and Adele Underwood.
